School Projects

First project

This is a comic about passionate gaming. It`s 8 pages long and its mostly text based.
Our given task was to tell about something we know in the form of an educational comic. We also had to fill 90% of it with text and keep the pictures at minimum.
I`m very pleased at the final version =)
SKIP THE NEXT PART IF YOU DON`T WANT TO READ THE ENGLISH TRANSLATION OF THIS COMIC.

These projects are completely written in Finnish, so here are the translations:
Page1: Burning of soul - Gaming, as told by baron Zane. All the other text is mainly different game console names, the surroundings are some catchphrases or phrases from different games. =)
Page2: Baron Zane, prince Zane`s a little more fitting alter ego for our modern world, who will now enlighten you about passion towards gam... "Could we begin??! Or else I`ll be late from the daily sheet-ironing therapy! (The surroundings are different game developers while the other text is mainly the sound of a ticking clock and Zane`s foot hitting the ground impatiently.)
Page3: So let us begin. " At this rate I won`t be seeing the beginning of the therapy!!! Quite a slowpoke of a storyteller we have! I think I`ll contact your boss when this is over! ...Maybe now I could begin my unbelievable presentation about passionate gaming!" As you see fit baron Zane, Oh you mighty seer of games! (The surrounding is full of gaming vocabulary)
Page4: "Lets begin from the basics, as like what kind of games exist. The modern world is full of games from all kinds of genres. There are action games, puzzle games, horror games, platform games, single player games, multiplayer games, card games, board games... ...But today we focus on videogames. Games can also be split in groups of easy-hard and fun-talent based, as seen with the eyes of a passionate gamer. Beginners should start from easy and fun games while moving on to more difficult and more talent demanding games. Next a few examples."
Page5: "A good example of a game that is fun and easy at the same time is Minecraft (Copyright Mojang).
This game is a so called sandbox game, where the playing never ends and the options are limitless. Difficulty can be found and hardcore-gamers are free to challenge the hard mode. Passion towards this game develops easily, and all the dedicated players can spend hours and hours in front of this game! You`ll forget to visit the bathroom, to eat and worries about important work. I`m serious! If you love to create, half of your life will be sunk into this game!" (Minecraft logo and some vocabulary of the game)
Page6:" An excellent example of a game that is hard and talent demanding is Bayonetta (Copyright Platinum Games). This game is a so called stylish-fighting game and demands a lot of persistence and lots of practising  to be played. Difficulty can be found even when the most experienced gamers cry during normal mode. Passion towards this game comes when you take notice how you have progressed in your fighting skills. This game cannot be played for hours and hours at a time due to the fear of killing your hands, because in this game you have to hit buttons as your life depended of them! ... Well in this game it does actually!!!" (Bayonetta logo and vocabulary).
Page7: "Passionate gaming demands dedication to the games! You must love them in order to give them the time they need. It`s easy to begin your gaming hobby at your friends house or the sort, checking the internet or buying a random game(WHICH IS USUALLY NOT THAT WISE, TRUST ME!). Here is a short list of games that are easy and nice to begin a possible gaming passion!" "Thank you!" "Remember to not give up if you don`t succeed at first!" List of games: Animal crossing, Copyright Nintendo. Final Fantasy, Copyright Square Enix. The original Spyro-trilogy, Copyright Insomniac Games. THE END (Surrounding filled with vocabulary of the three earlier mentioned games.)

 Second project

This is our second project. Much like the first one, it`s also about passionate gaming, but this time only 16 pages long and more picture based. Our task was to tell the same story but with the help of pictures. There could only be 10% of text in it or none.
I finished this today. Gave me an awful neck pain and my hand almost died, but it was worth it!
I absolutely love every picture! They all took a great amount of time, especially picture 11 (Bayonetta picture, it`s also my favorite)

Autumn 2013

Third project

Finally it`s done, my third school project so far... It took forever to complete and now I´m worn out again... Until tomorrow that is. I think I´ll never get enough of drawing =)
This time we had free hands except for the tools we could use. We had to use indian ink and draw with a G-tipped pen (I have no idea what the real term for that tool is in English, I`m sorry) or with a brush. The work had to be black-white-gray again. Colour could only be added if you used coloured paper for the final version.
This is practically the first chapter for my weird-humorous-cross dressing-story, only in a too little format for my liking... I did the sketches for this story in English, but sadly had to translate it all to Finnish into the final version. The original English version has a word-gag in the end of it, but it can`t be used in the Finnish version - In the Finnish language we have only one word for He/She, so it`s impossible to tell which gender they are referring to when they speak...
I don`t know if I`ll translate this into English. I might do it later, but now it has to wait. Anyway, enjoy the pictures at least. Forgive me for the bad quality... It was difficult to take photos in the class room.

First critique work

So this is my creation for our winter critique work 2013. It`s a short story about death. May sound and look very grim to be one of my works, but I think it still has something cute in it =)
I got the idea for this when I saw a picture where a dark figure was watching a sleeping person. It reminded me of the grim reaper and then I got this ultimately romantic idea of death being a handsome man and giving someone the kiss of death... Quite random, but isn`t the way things usually work out?
Oh, and when this project was nearly done, I poured my ink cup on two of the pages by accident... It wasn`t anything major, it actually saved me from coloring one of the bottom pictures at page 7 and I only had to redraw the bottom right picture of page 10 (The picture has thicker outlining because I glued the new picture on the ruined one). And during the same evening, I almost spat my cocoa on the work. Gladly only a few drops landed on it. They were easily whipped off.

"May I have this dance my lady?"

Color comic

This is my color comic for our color comic project. It´s so very short there isn`t much in it. It`s just the average lovey-dovey-cutey story of girl-meets-boy.
The idea of the comic was that it should only work when it has the colors in it. Of course this story would work without the colors, but I think the main idea of the different colored clothes would be lost.
I also took a long brake while doing this so there`s this weird style change sort of. I wonder if you guys can spot it? Anyway, I didn`t quite like doing this comic and I`m glad it`s finished.

THE END
